Wednesday/Thursday June 5 & 6
Got a new tire at Walmart on Wednesday, put it on the trailer, put the spare back on the back, ate lunch and hit the road. Made it to Minden, LA and decided to stop for the night at this little itty bitty RV park right on the interstate (Cinnamon Creek RV Resort). They had a "self-checkin" system - there wasn't anyone on site! Only a few of us there - but they had wifi, TV reception, laundry, and a couple of showers. Not a bad little spot.
Then, today came the rain! We tried to time it... ha! Mother Nature cannot be timed! Tom drove us to the Texas Welcome Center (about an hour from our starting point) and drove us through some of the worst rains! I started driving at the Welcome Center and got us just about to Tyler, TX. We stopped at a picnic area for lunch and the rain started again. Tom drove some more.
There was one spot on the freeway that was a "low" spot - there must've been 2-3 feet of water on the road! We plowed right on through it. I kept expecting to see the trailer come floating past us! Very unique experience. Tom was driving (thankfully!) - I don't think I could've done it. I would've sat on the side of the road and waiting until it went away. :-)
Pulled into the Destiny Dallas RV Resort about 4:30 and connected with the fam...
