Day 30

Saturday, June 29

Today was the big trip "downtown".  Got to go to Hollywood (Hollywood Blvd., Walk of Fame, Hollywood sign), Beverly Hills (Sunset Strip, Rodeo Drive, Wilshire Blvd.), Santa Monica (got to see the pier but it was so foggy - couldn't get a picture), the LaBrea Tar Pits, and Venice Beach (Tom actually put his feet in the water).

Went to lunch at a Cuban restaurant - good food!

Very thankful that Karen & Travis gave up a coveted weekend day to haul us all around!  I'm fairly confident we'd still be in the parking garage trying to get out if we had been left to do this ourselves!

Great day of playing tourist!

Day 29

Friday, June 28

We left home 4 weeks ago today...  Seems like forever ago and yet it seems like only yesterday!

Arrived in Castiac, California for lunch today.  Got parked into a site across the street from Karen & Travis.  Have thoroughly enjoyed visiting all day today...

We'll be here now until July 8.  There will be some sightseeing and touristy things but mostly a lot of visiting and catching up with friends....

Day 28

Thursday, June 27

Made it to Yerma, CA today (just east of Barstow).

We're currently at the pool where we've been invaded by a million kids.  At least we had a good 30-45 minutes to ourselves before the masses showed up.

It's hot (but, as they say, it's a dry heat).  The highest I saw on the truck was 104.  My IPad currently says 106.

We went up to the Calico Ghost Town when we got here.  Disappointing.  Very "tourist-trappy".  But, we can say we did it.

Day 27

Wednesday, June 26

Extended our stay in Vegas for one more day.  Thought we'd spend the day relaxing at the pool.  How can you not take advantage of an "adult only" pool and hot tub?

Yesterday we went to the "Strip".  Saw the fountains at the Bellagio, the "Fall of Atlantis" at Caesar's (and Caesar's is HUGE!), ate dinner at the Mirage and saw the volcano erupt, and finished our tour with the Sirens vs. the Pirates show at Treasure Island (that was a good show!).

We tried to find Fremont Street for the Fremont Street Experience but it was just too far away from everything else.  Oh well... Can't do it all!

Finished the evening by driving the Strip at night with all the lights.  I couldn't capture great "lights" pictures - they all wash out on the IPad.  But we got to see them.

Day 25

Monday, June 24

Left Utah around 9:30 this morning and got to this fabulous Las Vegas RV resort around 1:30.

As soon as we got hooked up, we went to the Hoover Dam and saw Lake Mead.  The Dam is huge!!! We walked along the bridge that looks down over the Dam - incredible!

Then we returned to the park and went to the pool.  It's an Adult Only pool - the kids have to go to their own pool.  With soft music piped in through speakers strategically placed around the pool area...  NICE!!!  Now this is an RV RESORT!

Day 23

Saturday, June 23

Bryce Canyon.  Wow!

Amazing views from every stop.  We walked a bit on the rim which was really nice.  Ate lunch from the top.

Tom likes the caverns and Zion the best.  Me?  I think each has their own unique flair and I've liked them all equally.

Tomorrow is going to be a "down" day.  Some pool time; I've found a place that will work for me to do a little dance practice; no schedule, no rushing around, NO DRIVING!

Probably will not post again until Vegas...

Day 22

Friday, June 21

Traveled to Virgin, UT today.  Got in around 2; got set up; and went straight to Zion National Park.  What an amazing place to visit.  We rode the shuttle and got off at most of the stops.  Hiked several trails, took a ton of pictures, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Our park is nice...  When I have a minute, I'll take some pictures of it.

Once again, the Internet connections leave a lot to be desired so pictures may be sketchy until I can really get online for a significant period of time.
