Day 18

Monday, June 17

We went to Roswell today - as planned.  But that's pretty much where the plans got tossed and new ones developed...

We were supposed to go south and cross into Arizona and visit friends in Morenci...  Apparently Morenci has a boatload of contract workers right now and Paul didn't think we'd find an RV spot within 100 miles...  And their temps are reaching triple digits right now...  And the road we wanted to take north after visiting with them used to be called Highway 666 because it's a 15- mile an hour twisting winding mountain road with no shoulders or guardrails...  And that's before factoring pulling a trailer.  We'll try to catch up with our friends another time...

So we kept heading north.  Tonight (and tomorrow night) we're just outside Santa Fe.  Tomorrow we'll go exploring the Santa Fe area.  On Wednesday, we're supposed to continue north - eventually finding Mesa Verde National Park.  I say "supposed to" because when the time comes?  Who knows! I was pretty bummed about not getting to see Joann & Paul; but how fun is this - just driving with true destinations unknown!

And how nice is this being north!  Windows are open, no air conditioner.  Supposed to get down to 60 tonight.  Yeah!
